3 Things NOT to Buy This Black Friday

We’re always looking for ways to save you money. After all, you work hard and deserve to find the best items at the lowest prices. If you’re planning to join the Black Friday mayhem, here are a few items that you might want to avoid.

Fitness Equipment

We know it’s tempting to pick up some fancy new equipment, especially with the holidays approaching. Retail trends predict that most fitness equipment will be at its lowest price at the start of the new year.

Tools

Here’s a “handy” tip: If you’re on the lookout for some tools, wait until December. From drills to hammers to wrenches, December is the best time to buy brand name tools and supplies.

Jewelry

Thinking of surprising a loved one with something shiny? Jewelry is usually marked at its lowest price point in February because of Valentine’s Day. If you can hold off until then, your wallet might thank you.

Make October Memorable at One of These Pumpkin Patches

Do you smell that? It’s pumpkin-spice everything in the air, which means that, yes, October is finally here. One of the best ways to get into the “spirit” of the upcoming holiday and season is to start stocking up on pumpkins. You can have fun carving some spooky designs, roasting some tasty pumpkin seeds, or even try your hand baking a pumpkin pie from scratch. You’re going to need a pumpkin first, though. Here’s where to go.

The Original Manassero Farms | Tustin

Besides having a bunch of pumpkins, you can stock up on fall-scented candles, autumn decorations, and even yummy specialty foods for your next dinner party at this family farm.

3 Reasons to Go to The Greek Festival in Long Beach

Long Beach Greek Festival | Sep. 2 – 4 | Doors open at Noon

You probably don’t need us to tell you just how amazing the Long Beach Greek Festival is, but just in case you do, here are three reasons to make it part of your Labor Day weekend plans.

EAT

Let’s all be real. Greek food is amazing and there’s going to be a ton of it here so come hungry. We even hear there’s going to be homemade Greek sweets, too. Yum!

DRINK

There will be ample beer and wine from a variety of vendors around the area. Need we say more?

DANCE

Everyone comes for the dancing, though. If it’s your first Greek festival, then you should be aware that some dances are relatively simple, while others can be a bit more complicated. Don’t be shy! If you’re a beginner, it’s always a good idea to join in at the back of the line.

Plan a Weekend Getaway to Catalina Island

Getting away is easier than you think. Looking for that perfect vacation spot? Catalina Island is one of the premier tourist destinations in all of California and it’s basically right in your own backyard. Planning your weekend trip to Catalina doesn’t have to be a hassle either. In fact, here are a few tips to make your trip a breeze!

How to Get There

Most people take the ferry from one of the four mainland ports, which takes about an hour from shore. If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can take a 15-minute helicopter ride, too. Once there, it’s pretty easy to get where you’re going by foot in the 1-square mile town of Avalon. Taxis and shuttle buses are also available.

Where to Stay

When it comes to lodging, you have options. Choose from a cozy bed and breakfast, a beachfront hotel, or even cottage rentals.

What to Do

Start planning your itinerary! There’s a nice selection of art and museums open to the public. If you feel like heading outdoors, there are several hiking trails available as well as golf courses. Want to be near the water? Go fishing, scuba diving, jet skiing, parasailing, paddleboarding, and so much more. For the adventurous, thrill-seeker, you’ll want to check out the Zip Line Eco Tour.

Add Some Arts and Culture to Your 2017 Summer

Spruce up your summer with some exciting arts and culture events near your apartment. Here are just a few!

Huntington Beach

For over 20 years, the Pier Plaza Art-A-Faire has been a hub of arts and crafts as well as a summer event for locals and tourists. Come out to explore original artwork and handmade crafts. With the Pacific Ocean just over the pier, it’s also a beautiful place to be on Friday evenings. The fair takes place every Friday throughout the summer. You can find the full schedule here.

Tustin

Need a little music in your life? On Wednesday, July 19th, Tustin is hosting their Concerts in the Park at Peppertree Park, which is located at 230 West First Street in Tustin. Beginning at 6 pm, you’ll be able to hear a Rolling Stones Tribute Band and dance your way into the night. Concerts will take place throughout the summer, though. Spend Fourth of July on the Water this Year

Ready to take your Fourth of July plans to the next level? Well, Rainbow Harbor Cruises makes it easy! Imagine boarding a beautiful cruise liner, sipping on your favorite beverages, and soaking up the majestic skyline. Sounds pretty amazing, right? To top it off, you’ll be up close to one of the best fireworks displays in the area. It doesn’t get much better than that.

There will be two boats set to take off from Rainbow Harbor, so you can choose a time that works for you. Hop aboard Triumphant at 7:30 pm or Kristina at 8 pm. Tickets are only $45 per person, which means that you can have an amazing Independence Day without spending a ton of cash.

Be warned, though. This is one popular event, so you’ll want to purchase your tickets in advance. If you’ve never had the opportunity to experience America’s favorite holiday on the water, then seriously, what are you waiting for?
